iBook

The iBook was a line of laptop computers produced by Apple from 1999 to 2006, targeting entry-level and education markets. More affordable and less powerful than the PowerBook, it was also the first consumer laptop to feature built-in Wi-Fi (marketed as AirPort). The series went through three designs: the original “Clamshell” model stood out with its colorful, iMac-inspired look and integrated handle, while the second generation shifted to a simpler, rectangular design. The final update in 2003 introduced a PowerPC G4 processor, USB 2.0, and a slot-loading optical drive. Thanks to its affordability, the iBook became popular in schools, including large-scale deployments like Henrico County Public Schools in the U.S.
