Comments
The Macintosh LC was a low cost computer designed for
economy. The LC (LC for low cost color) had a relatively powerful
68020 CPU, but coupled to a 16-bit data bus, it accessed RAM
slowly. Its RAM ceiling of 10 MB made it obsolete way before its
time. The LC's most compelling aspect was its price. At $2,500,
it cost a fraction of the $6000 plus price tag of the Macintosh II, and
could generate 8-bit video in 256 colors (16-bit at 512 x 384 if using 512K VRAM).
Color had never been as affordable on any Macintosh until the
introduction of the LC.
