The IIfx was the fastest of the Mac II line and perhaps the fastest desktop computer on any platform at the time. It used a "wicked fast" 40 MHz 68030 on a 40 MHz/32-bit bus. This speed came at a steep price. The IIfx could cost upwards of $12,000 depending on the configuration.
