In response to Hookerman's latest neo-conservative rant, I will outline what Greenpeace is really all about and why Apple has responded positively to this outstanding organization. Foremost, despite Hookerman's assertion that Greenpeace is a communist, anti-business organization, Greenpeace is actually not interested in the economics of commerce. They are interested in the effect unregulated commerce has on our environment. It is unacceptable for any company or government to continue to take actions that threaten us all. If Greenpeace has to embarrass or harass companies to make them do the right thing, oh well.
Greenpeace was founded in Canada in 1971. It began life as a nonviolent protest movement against US nuclear weapons testing on Amchitka, an island off the west coast of Alaska. The group chartered an old fishing vessel they renamed Greenpeace and sailed her into prohibited waters off the coast of Alaska to protest the environmentally destructive policies of the United States government. Over time, the movement stringed together a half dozen loosely connected protest groups to form Greenpeace International in 1979. Today, Greenpeace International has a presence in 41 countries throughout the world and there are about 2.7 million Greenpeace supporters worldwide.
Al Gore
Greenpeace is totally funded by individuals and refuses to take donations from corporations, governments, or political parties. Hookerman's assertion that Greenpeace is somehow tied to the U.S. Democratic Party is a reach, although it could be argued that the progressive individuals who support Greenpeace tend to vote Democratic. And why wouldn't they? The Republicans have offered nothing but empty promises and rhetoric. Al Gore, a prominent and influential member of the Democratic Party, is a committed progressive and faithful member of the environmental movement. He is the target of endless attacks by crazies like Kris Hookerman and his conservative brethren. Imagine if right-wing loons like Rush Limbaugh put as much energy into protecting our planet for future generations as they do tearing down people who are trying to do something about our dire environmental condition.
We could whip this problem in no time at all. Large corporations would no longer be able to gain economic advantage over rivals by using the easy, cheap, and environmentally destructive alternative. Environmentalism is the price of living on the planet Earth. If companies and governments refuse to pay the price, people like Al Gore and organizations like Greenpeace will step in to see they do the right thing. And what has Greenpeace accomplished? Plenty. Take a moment to visit their site where you will find an impressive list of their contributions to the world. Listing their accomplishments since 1972 would fill volumes. If Hookerman wishes to criticize Greenpeace, he should at least take the time to learn what the group has accomplished. I doubt he cares either way because he is an ideologue. He talks about Kool-Aid drinkers in his article. Well, we know who the real Kool-Aid drinker is.
Apple is a responsible company. Greenpeace may have overstepped their bounds by going after Apple, but that is what they do. They take action because they know the consequences of inaction. Let me take a moment to thank Apple for doing the right thing. Thank you Steve for showing that Apple is about more than profits. Keep up the good work and bring on those environmentally friendly Macs!

Greenpeace petitioners are Communists. I ask questions. I get scripted answers. I ask more. I get denials and more scripted answers. The fact they would buy Illuminati Al's crap proves they have an agenda and it certainly is NOT to save the whales or to protect our earth. Or "GAIA' since Al is into witchy stuff. No mention of chemtrails, depleted uranium, Oak Ridge freon contribution to the ozone hole, nuclear explosions, industrial pollution. UN murderers plain and simple....with Apple computers.

I am glad we have a system that lets the nutballs vent their paranoid delusions. In oppressive societies, nutballs are suppressed and their collective nutballism builds until it explodes in an orgy of death and destruction for all who disagree. That is how most fascist and communist societies are formed. We let the nutballs vent and the population is free to see their nutballism. Thus people rightfully conclude they are idiots and everyone goes about their business. Great system!

Greenpeace is a nutball organization and your arguments are silly. You need to put down the Kool-Aid or whatever drug you are taking and get a clue.
